Looking for a bike friendly train in the Chamonix valley
In 2016, a new train will be delivered to the Chamonix valley , it will not allow any or very restricted space for our bicycles.
although, this transportation mean is largely paid by our taxes.
So, let's get together to ask the SNCF and RFF to include :
- A special car dedicated to bicycles and intercommunal goods transport
- or a larger dedicated bicycle space in regular cars
The Chamonix valley has received the "Flocon Vert " award for all its efforts to improve the quality of our environment , mainly by reducing the impact of traffic on its local roads, and for giving free access to buses and trains connecting all the villages and towns in the valley. It just does not make sense not to be able to travel with our bikes ( or in a very limited number ) in our fancy red train .
The developpement of cycling as a mode of transport is to be taken seriously as it has a direct impact on our environment, tourism, economy, our safety and public health.
